Older Adult Did Not Abandon His Dogs Despite The Fact That Hurricane Otto Destroyed His House

Last Monday in Limón, Costa Rica, a dam broke, destroying Mr. Antonio Nez’s home. The man didn’t abandon his dogs; he wasn’t going to leave them stranded in the middle of Hurricane Otto, the tropical storm that turned into a hurricane and was headed towards the Costa Delicious after passing through Panama and Nicaragua and leaving a number of people dead.

The 79-year-old man vowed that even if his life was in danger as a result of the hurricane Otto’s tremendous rains, he would not leave the location of his former house if his four dogs did not accompany him. Many homes, including Mr. Antonio’s, have suffered significant damage as a result of the rain, floods, and landslides.

Antonio Nez stated to the Teletica TV station:

I had nothing left after losing everything, including my clothing. I’m here, at God’s will, to see what happens. Things get better. Life doesn’t get better.

«The last time (the water entered the house), it barely filled. I left believing the same thing would happen before realizing I was already surrounded and had nowhere to go.

The man relies only on his pension, is childless, and lives alone. A young guy saved him and brought him to stay the night at a neighbor’s home. He also consented to depart the area with the proviso that he bring his four dogs with him.

«I won’t leave my dogs alone when I die; I will. So I go if the dogs go too. I’m currently seeking refuge in a boy’s house nearby. The dogs are in the hallway; to me, they are like my children, and I won’t let them be thrown away.

He and his dogs were taken to a safe home by the Costa Rican charity Rescate Animal ARA, where he will stay for the next seven months.

Additionally, Antonio got gifts for his home’s furnishings. They also bought food and blankets for his pets, as well as blankets and supplies for him.

A bed, mattress, refrigerator, electrical equipment, and other items were given to the man.
