This Paralyzed Doberman Dog Learned To Walk Again, And Never Gave Up

Kenny, a paraplegic Doberman dog that defied all expectations to regain his ability to run and walk. After a kennel employee unintentionally dropped a metal gate on Kenny’s neck in April 2013, he was left unable to move any of his four legs. The experts advised euthanasia since they believed the animal would never be able to walk normally again.

When the event that caused his paralysis happened, the crippled Doberman dog, who was around 10 years old, was residing at Doberman Rescue in Los Angeles.

Because the owner of the shelter was at a loss for what to do, he brought the dog to Leslie McMahon, the creator of Two Hands Four Paws, a facility for canine physical therapy.

The Huffington Post cited Leslie as saying:

“Kenny was rushed right away to the neurologist,” says the patient, “and they realized they didn’t have the $8,000 for an MRI and surgery so she urged us to simply attempt rehab to see if we could get him to walk again.”

Leslie McMahon remarked that it was “extremely difficult” to assist Kenny in moving his limbs due to their rigidity. However, she and her group did not take a break; instead, they made every effort to assist the dog.

“We worked extremely hard for a very long month to maintain his muscles supple, putting him in the pool, performing massages, lasers, acupuncture, and supported walking,” the doctor said.

Until it became clear that Kenny was no longer able to urinate one day.

He actually believed we would lose him because of that, which put his life in danger.

But after learning about the dog’s plight, Annie Hart, the founder of the Bill Foundation, an animal rescue organization in Los Angeles, told her story to the friends and supporters of the organization on social media.

The Huffington Post was informed by Annie that they received a startling $6,000 donation in one day for Kenny’s case. Kenny could therefore have surgery followed by an MRI with the money.
