This Dog Was Sad In A Shelter Next To His Favorite Toy, But His Life Has Changed

Smokey has been sad for the past 15 days since he and his favorite stuffed animal, an elephant, were abandoned at an Ohio animal shelter on Valentine’s Day. Smokey, who is 5 years old, has known and loved the same family for his whole life. The family had lost their house, which is why Smokey ended himself at the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center.

The pink-eared gray elephant and Smokey were then delivered so that Smokey may find some solace there.

Smokey has had a difficult couple of weeks, according to shelter staff and volunteers, despite the fact that he was sitting right next to his favorite toy.

His kennel at the shelter had a sign stating that he and the elephant had to be adopted together because of how much he loves the animal.

The personnel at the shelter observed Smokey snarling and seemed afraid. Smokey was unavailable for public approval because of the growling. Instead, a sign requesting assistance from a rescue organization to help Smokey leave the shelter and find a foster home was placed outside his shed.

Shelter representative Susan Smith stated:

“He’s going to be much better off in a different environment. He’s going to be much better off when he’s out of the cage.”

Two volunteers from the non-profit organization I Have A Dream Rescue Organization visited one day. They made a promise to locate Smokey a foster home after falling in love with him right away.

Smokey is currently grinning nonstop. He just learned that he and his preferred plush elephant would soon be leaving the shelter.

Smokey’s ride was guaranteed by I Have A Dream. The group is selecting a foster home from among the many people who have offered to care for Smokey until his original owner can retrieve him or, if that is not possible, until he can be placed up for adoption.
