Shelter Worker Furious at Man’s Reason for Returning Senior Dog

Ageing occurs naturally in both humans and animals. Sometimes this causes our dogs to slow down and take longer naps than usual, but it is by no means a justification to get rid of them because they have shown us so much affection throughout their whole lives. Growing old together is beautiful, and people who genuinely care for their dogs understand that adoption is permanent.

When an elderly man brought his adorable and devoted dog named Cinnamon to the shelter at California’s Los Angeles Animal Services North Central Facility, one staffer was so distraught. He had decided it was time for them to split ways even though they had aged together.

Due to her age, diminished hearing, and habit of lying down constantly, the dog’s owner abandoned her. Cinnamon, who we believe to be around 15 years old, was first adopted from the same shelter in 2004.

Despite the fact that she was still a delightful companion, he was giving her away because she spent all of her time lying down, not because he could no longer care for her or was physically unable to satisfy her demands. Even though he had had enough, he continued to sit there and stroke her head.

She allegedly stopped moving and running, according to him. The guy said, “She doesn’t do anything anymore, she doesn’t chase cats,” when asked why she was giving up the dog.

The dog appeared to be really terrified, Laura said. Canela, poor Canela, understood that something was going on and that it would not be good for her.

The man turned and left her there with strangers as she hid her tail between her legs in terror. Without pausing, he left Cinnamon, who had been a part of his life for 13 years, and went out the door.
