Everyone should have the delightful pleasure of living with animals. Even if they may not be the most traditional pets, they are nevertheless capable of teaching us extremely important things and giving us the biggest grins. Davina and Deidre, two darling chicks, are evidence of this.
They were part of David Williams’ son’s birthday present when he brought them home. He had no idea that everyone in his neighborhood would be able to develop a meaningful relationship with the hens. In preparation for the hens’ arrival, David constructed a tiny enclosure in the yard. To make their lives more comfortable, he made it as spacious as he could, but Davina and Deidre had other ideas entirely.
David said, “We tried to keep them inside, but they wanted to be free, to wander everywhere.
The beautiful chickens like their freedom, and after just a few days with the Williams family, they learned how to get out of the pen on their own. They quickly came to the conclusion that there was nothing to stop them.
A neighbor remarked, “They brighten our days now that they are a part of the neighborhood.
The first of Davina and Deidre’s travels started in the summer. Since there was plenty of light in the afternoons and it didn’t appear that the hens were in any danger, David didn’t worry too much. But as the evenings grew longer, the family realized they needed to take precautions to keep them safe.
We were concerned that people wouldn’t notice them as the nights became darker. They could stray too close to a road or driveway, said David.
They then got in touch with a business that specialized in creating the most bizarre items for various animals. The much anticipated order finally came a few weeks later.
