Goose Rides The Subway To Get The Help He Needs

Ariel Cordova Rojas planned to cycle to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to celebrate his 30th birthday. He planned to spend some quiet time viewing the many birds in his environment without disturbing them, but he ended up having an even richer experience when he observed a bird in need of assistance.

The lady, who is a former animal care manager for the Wild Bird Fund, sensed something was amiss when she observed the bird on the ground isolated from the rest of the flock, according to The Dodo. She said that she couldn’t leave her there since she felt something wasn’t quite right.

When Ariel approached the goose, she saw it couldn’t stand and was trying to crawl with its wings, so she grabbed the 17-pound bird into her arms and carried it a mile to the park gate, where they were met by a kind stranger who drove them to the subway.

People were unsurprised when they spotted Ariel carrying the goose she named ‘Bae’ on the metro. Staff from the Wild Bird Fund greeted the woman at the metro station and drove her to the clinic.

The goose had already been diagnosed with an illness and lead toxicity at the clinic. Ariel arrived just in time to help him.

Bae has made significant progress during her time in the clinic, and she has made a new buddy.

Along with several photos of the geese, Ariel commented on her Instagram account:

“She called a fellow swan while swimming, just out of her quarantine period and cleared to exercise in the pool.” She couldn’t stand when I initially brought her in, and she was ataxic, sluggish, skinny, and silent. She’s there, ruffling her tail feathers with the prospect of a possible love affair.”

Bae and her new buddy keep one other tenderly encouraging each other on during her rehabilitation, and there is no better way for Ariel to celebrate her 30th birthday than watching Bae on the mend.
