Dog Tied To A Post Holds Out His Paw To The Policeman Who Came To Save Him

A pair of canines were chained to a post in an alley in Pompano, Florida, according to police officer Angela Laurella. Because there were no security cameras in the area, it was hard to determine how long they had been abandoned.

Because of the extreme heat in this region of the nation, the officer felt she had to act swiftly to save the animals. She dashed to the aforementioned location and discovered a grey, sickly dog clinging on a power pole.

The officer informed Amy Roman, president and creator of 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida, about the dog’s situation, and she wanted to assist.

Amy explained to The Dodo:

“He was tethered to a post with a short leash.” He was severely malnourished and dehydrated, with all of his bones and ribs protruding.”

When the dog noticed the officer approaching, he moved, placing his paw on Angela’s hand and tilting his head to accept affection.

Amy continued, ”

“She simply carefully approached him and extended her hand; he shrugged and gave her his paw, as if to say, ‘Please get me out of here!'”

The officer could see right away that the dog had had a terrible life and required special care. As a result, she phoned Amy’s animal rescue facility, hoping that they might assist the dog.

Although the rescue center was above his capabilities, this did not prevent him from assisting him.

When the dog arrived at the shelter, he was given the name Liam and taken to the clinic to begin treatment for his health problems. Liam regained some of his health after multiple trips to the vet and went into Amy’s foster home for safety.

The sweet rescue dog is steadily regaining his strength, eating better than ever and enjoying all of the love and attention he need.

Amy remarked:

“He is showered with affection twenty-four hours a day.” He’s fed every hour on the hour to get his body acclimated to it… He is currently enjoying life since we have volunteers making batches of boiled chicken and rice for him.”

Liam has a long way to go and many vet appointments ahead of him, but he has been a joy since his rescue. He appears to adore everyone of his carers, demonstrating that despite his challenging circumstances, he is appreciative and forgiving of people.

Liam is just one of hundreds of animals in Florida who have been abandoned or relinquished by their owners.

Animal shelters are overcrowded, and Amy advises pet owners to seek another option before abandoning an animal.

Liam is proof that all animals are deserving of a second opportunity; after all, they are entitled to a happy existence.
