Street Puppy Who Lost His Family Can’t Stop Cuddling His Rescuer

Tamara Johnston was hot and tired after spending the entire day in Songkhla, Thailand, assisting dogs. However, when Johnston, the founder of Thai Street Paws Rescue, stopped at a nearby shop to get a cool drink, she noticed a 2-month-old puppy on the side of the road.

Although the rest of his body was malnourished, the puppy’s tummy was distended. He was also coated in fleas and ticks, and his eyes were filled with fear.

Johnston told The Dodo, “I asked the locals whether he had an owner and where his mother was.” “They stated that his mother isn’t around… and that his sibling was killed by an automobile recently.” He didn’t have an owner, so he hung out between houses, eating whatever he could find, which wasn’t much.”

While Johnston encounters a lot of street dogs in Thailand — much more than she can ever save – she felt she had to save this puppy, whose she has named Basil. “He just seemed ill to me among all the stray dogs in the vicinity,” she added.

As a result, Johnston grabbed him up, took him to her car, and drove directly to the veterinarian’s office. During the automobile trip, Basil nestled into Johnston’s lap, no longer fearful.

Johnston stated, “I honestly feel that was a big relief for him.” “It was almost as though he knew someone would come to his aid.” He didn’t move; instead, he nestled into my arms and slept off. He felt certain that he was secure.”

He stayed in Johnston’s lap during the entire car ride.

Basil was given water and medicine at the vet to help him feel better. “Basil was a lovely child,” Johnston remarked, “very well-behaved.” “However, I believe he was exhausted from his illness and lacked vitality.”

Basil will be at the veterinarian for a few more days. He’ll remain with Johnston or one of the Thai Street Paws Rescue volunteers until he finds a forever home – Johnston hopes that someone in the United States would adopt Basil after he’s feeling better and has been vaccinated and sterilized.
