Puppy Gets Rescued From A Fire In The Snow After Becoming Lost In The Wilderness

The loss of a pet is one of life’s most traumatic situations, but it was conquered by the family of a courageous dog who, thanks to divine intervention, was able to return home after four months of battling forest fires, storms, and the worst snowfall.

The furry one vanished in August of last year, when he sprang from his owner’s side and rushed into the desert of the Lake Tahoe area, in the Sierra Nevada, with the woman powerless to stop him.

Nothing appeared to work when the nurse reported him missing to the authorities, put up posters in the neighborhood, and made a series of social media posts.

For the owner, who worked at a hospital in the region where she vanished, the days after her abduction were torturous. Despite the absence of news, this woman never gave up hope of hugging Russ again, and it appears that she got her dream in January.

A skier discovered a Labrador mix stranded in the snow under a tree. The guy attempted to approach him, but the hairy man reacted angrily and refused to aid; yet, the subject desired to help the dog in another way.

The skier only wanted to help the tiny dog, so he snapped a picture and posted it to a Facebook page to share his story. The little puppy appeared confused and in difficulty, so the skier simply wanted to rescue him. Fortunately, his plan came to fruition when Tahoe PAWS and TLC 4 Furry Friends volunteers were notified to the situation and chose to act.

They are members of a South Lake Tahoe-based non-profit animal search and rescue group.

“We realized we had to act quickly because the dog had been out in the snow all day.” And we were well aware of how chilly it was.

“It was dramatic, emotional, and adrenaline-pumping,” Tahoe PAWS Executive Director Wendy Jones said.

One of the rescuers, Allen Leona, led her crew up to the rocky terrain and began following the animal’s footprints. She worried it was too late when she got face to face with Russ the lady.

“I wasn’t sure if he was dead or alive,” Allen explained, “but then he opened his eyes, and I’m pretty sure I shouted.”

When the rescuers located the dog, they had to hurry and descend before darkness fell in the middle of that meter-and-a-half-deep snow.

Russ’ brave journey across the Lake Tahoe wilderness culminated with an emotional and wonderful rescue. Strong forest fires and later snowstorms wreaked havoc on this area in recent months.

His owner had given up hope of ever finding him, but this tiny pal clung to life in the hope of cuddling her once more.
