Dog And Piglet ‘Best Buds’ Sneak Out For Adventure Until They Get Busted By Cops

A piglet and large Pit Bull were having too much fun running around in a residential neighborhood when police arrived. The unlikely duo surprised and delighted several kids on their way to school and were spotted by multiple residents in the California town of Fontana who called the police department. When officers arrived they found the two animals “taking a break” on a front lawn.

“It was clear the lil piglet and the pit bull were best buds,” the Fontana Police Department wrote. A snapshot of the two by police demonstrates that fully.

The Pit Bull named Apollo figured he would “surrender” peacefully to the officers, but Grizzly, the piglet, wasn’t done having fun on his escapade and didn’t make it easy for Animal Service Officer. They wrote, “Catching Grizzly was not as easy as the Animal Service Officers had thought…he had fun playing ‘catch me if you can’…..

Ultimately, Grizzly was snagged and officers successfully contacted their owner because Apollo was microchipped. “The owner was very happy to hear they were found safe. She said the two are inseparable,” the department wrote on Facebook. They eat from the same bowl, sleep in the same doggy bed, play together and even swim together. Grizzly, the lil pig, loves Apollo.”

Here’s the police department’s full post:

“On August 29th, #FontanaPD Dispatch received multiple calls of a piglet and large pit bull running around in the neighborhood of Palmetto x Randall. The two were found taking a break on a front lawn. Several kids on their way to school were surprised by the pair….it was clear the lil piglet and the pit bull were best buds. Fortunately, the pit bull named Apollo, had a microchip and we were successful in contacting the owners. The owner was very happy to hear they were found safe. She said the two are inseparable. They eat from the same bowl, sleep in the same doggy bed, play together and even swim together. Grizzly, the lil pig, loves Apollo. Catching Grizzly was not as easy as the Animal Service Officers had thought…he had fun playing catch me if you can……Please remember to microchip your pets….even lil piglets can be microchipped.”

It turns out someone had left the side gate open where Grizzly and Apollo live, just a few blocks away. Their human, Michelle Aviña, told the Dodo she had been worried sick about them and said that the pair usually stay in the yard, “but I think they were feeling adventurous that morning.”

Aviña says their impromptu sojourn has prompted the family to make sure their gate is better secured and that any future “walks around the block” will be supervised.

All’s well that ends well. And the inseparable BFFs will no doubt continue making happy memories together.
