During A Rain, Cops Share His Umbrella With Homeless Dogs

Heavy rains have been wreaking havoc on the streets of Calcutta, India, forcing people and animals to seek cover in the middle of the storm. In the middle of all of this, Sheriff Tarun Kumar Mandal sees it as a natural fit to assist people in need.

Tarun was watching traffic at a major seven-lane crossroads a few days ago when he had some unexpected visitors. Two adorable homeless dogs, who were braving the bad weather, came up to him in the middle of the street and approached him, staying by his side.

Tarun provided the two canines shelter under his enormous umbrella while he went about his work.

Thousands of people all across the world were moved by the sight. The expression of helplessness on the faces of the homeless canines tells it all.

With an estimated 35 to 40 million stray dogs, India has an extravagant amount of homeless animals. It has one of the world’s highest populations of people who have been abandoned.

The fact is that there is still a long way to go in providing assistance to these stray animals. Calcutta police, for their part, try to interfere when a dog has to be rescued or simply needs a warm place to rest.
