Crows Continue To Bring Gifts To Women Who Are Kind To Them

Melinda Green began seeing birds stopping by for a break on her fire escape in San Francisco a few years ago.

Rather of shooing the birds away, as others might, Green chose to embrace them.

“When I saw them, I simply began throwing out some food on my fire escape,” Green told The Dodo.

Green thought that observing the crows was enough, but the birds obviously thought she deserved more.

Green’s fire escape was visited by a crow who had an article in his jaws and placed it where she could grab it.

It was a crumpled-up bit of foil off the top of a champagne bottle — one man’s trash, undoubtedly, but a gleaming treasure in the crow’s eyes.

He’d brought it as a present for Green, it seems. She was overjoyed to take it.

“Of course, I was ecstatic,” Green remarked.

Green says that she was first suspicious that the foil was intended for her.

The gifts, on the other hand, just kept on coming.

The birds eventually brought her numerous gifts, such as colorful pebbles, bones, and shell nuts. They even brought her a gummy bear at one point.

Green declined to eat it, but she was grateful for the gesture anyway.

Green’s most recent gift from the crows is a strange thing.

Despite the fact that it is most likely just a broken-off piece of equipment, it has an artistic flair that the birds must have imagined Green would like.

And she succeeded.

“The fact that it’s a gift makes it valuable,” Green explained.
