A Couple Spends Over $55,000 To Improve The Quality Of Life For Their 20 Dogs

When individuals want to give a puppy a shot at life, they usually want it to be a puppy and in excellent condition, which is why handicapped or elderly dogs are often the final option.

What these individuals don’t realize is that, while a dog with special needs may be more difficult to care for, it is just as cute and lovable as any other puppy.

Fortunately, Chris and Mariesa Hughes of Clifton Park, New York, have taken it upon themselves to save numerous puppies, and the pair has adopted 20 of them, all of whom are elderly and in terrible condition.

According to Bored Panda, the couple runs a non-profit called The Mr. Mo Project, which was founded when their veteran pet named “Mo” died and they were forced to cover significant vet bills.

Chris and Mariesa were well aware that caring for an aging dog was not an inexpensive proposition, which is why so many were surrendered to shelters or abandoned to their destiny.

Given the circumstances, the pair determined to do everything they could to ensure that these canines received the care they required.

The Mr. Mo Project posted the following on their website:

For the remainder of their lives, senior dogs deserve the best. “We believe that elderly dogs, too, deserve to be adopted!”

Currently, the organization has saved hundreds of dogs from being euthanized and has assisted them in receiving treatment and finding permanent homes, but 20 of these canines have been properly adopted by the couple, who have invested approximately US $ 55,000 in remodeling their home in order to provide the best quality of life for them.

A special king-size bed for $ 5,000, so they can sleep with their dogs, and a hydrotherapy pool for $ 30,000, so the dogs can exercise, are among the purchases.

The house, on the other hand, is outfitted with ramps, plastic sheets, and carpets, among other items, to make the surroundings as pleasant as possible. Additionally, the couple spends 45 minutes each morning feeding and administering meds to them.

Chris stated:

“Living with 20 dogs is insane, but we make it work because we have a solid routine.”

The pair is primarily concerned with the wellbeing of the animals, thus in order to pay for their treatments, they try to gather as much money as possible, but if the cost is prohibitively high, they utilize their credit cards. The most important thing to them is that their dogs are healthy, and while debt might be difficult at times, supporting so many animals makes it all worthwhile.
