The family pulled up the young piglet, who was unconscious but still alive, and rushed her to the Adams County SPCA. Veterinarians took her temperature when she arrived; it was a staggering 107 degrees.

Charlotte required intensive care for two weeks, and she couldn’t even eat or drink on her own, so the SPCA staff assisted her in regaining her strength.

The young pig was finally strong enough to move to Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary in Poolesville, Maryland, where she arrived the other week.

Terry Cummings, director of Poplar Spring, told The Dodo, “She is just starting to run and play.”

“Although her wounds are still recovering,” the shelter stated on Facebook, “she should soon be totally well.” “We are overjoyed that this family has changed their ways and that the Adams County SPCA went above and beyond to save her life.”

Charlotte has just met another freshly rescued pig named Oreo, or Reo for short. They appear to be getting along pretty Good.

The shelter stated, “Welcome, Charlotte! You will enjoy a lovely life here!”
